Acrylate functionalized PEG is a common polymer for preparing biocompatible and biodegradable hydrogels and other biopolymers. Functionalized polyethylene glycol can be used to modify proteins, peptides, and materials, but also to increase solubility and stability, and reduce peptide and protein immunogenicity.
